Old City of Flensburg

In only 15 minutes by car from the Hotel des Nordens you reach the harbour of Flensburg and the old town. The pedestrian zones of the city invite you to shop or have a relaxing cup of coffee in one of the numerous cafés. The old town is also characterised by numerous historic buildings, which are still home to a large number of traditional craft businesses.

Flensburg Maritime Museum

The Flensburg Maritime Museum is located directly on the Flensburg Fjord with its historic marina. The exhibitions tell the story of the Flensburg sailors and shipping companies as well as the historical evolution of shipping in Flensburg.

Flensburg Pilsener brewery

The famous "Flensburger Pilsener" has been produced in Flensburg since 1888. The brewery invites you to visit the production processes and then to taste it with a small snack. It is recommended to make a reservation in advance.

Cycling along the border route

Active guests can experience German-Danish culture along the 130 km long border route, one of the many cycle paths in the region. Ice age shaped hilly country at Flensburg turns into inland dunes, marshland and heath towards the west.

Panoramic viewpoint Duburg

The castle wall of the former Duburg offers the most beautiful view over the city. This viewpoint can be reached via the Marientreppe.

Nordertor

The Nordertor is Flensburg's landmark and therefore a must when visiting the port city. The last preserved town gate was part of the former fortification around the harbour town.

Moated castle Glücksburg

The Renaissance castle Glücksburg is characteristically surrounded by the water of the castle pond and formerly housed the Danish royal family. Today the castle and its park can be visited either individually or as part of a guided tour.
